Fine dining at a decent price… Is this Manchester’s most improved restaurant? – MEN REVIEW By Dianne Bourne
5 star REVIEW
With a new chef and new menu, has Grafene on King Street found the winning formula?
The fine dining boom in Manchester of recent years has come with some sky-rocketing prices.
I recently managed to rack up an eye-watering bill of £250 for two of us dining at Manchester’s newest, shiniest fine dining place, 20 Stories, but that’s an entirely different story…
So how refreshing to return to Grafene restaurant on King Street and discover not only some of the finest of fine dining in the city, but at seriously bargain prices.
I’ll admit I was uninspired by my first visit here when Grafene opened two years ago, the shiny new kid on the block with predictably fancy food presentation, but not enough substance to match the style in my opinion.
But owners Paul and Kathryn Roden recently recruited Ben Mounsey as their head chef, formerly of Fraiche on the Wirral, one of the finest restaurants in the north west and a long-standing holder of that elusive Michelin Star.
